The board of the Watford Supporters Trust are delighted to welcome Brendan Rodgers to the manager’s post at Watford Football Club. Despite his relative youth, Brendan brings over a decade of coaching experience which will be put to good use in developing our young players. He also comes with a wealth of contacts in the game, which will be of great benefit to our player recruitment.

The start was put back 15 minutes. Graham Simpson then took the microphone and stated that he would be resigning, which was met with a few cheers and a few cries of 'shame'. He said that he'd had a meeting with the Russos that morning and the outcome was that he was resigning and they'd agreed to withdraw the motion of no confidence in the Board, so the EGM was cancelled. He said that he knew there were a number that were happy at him stepping down but he hoped they would, eventually, look back and recognise what he'd done for the club.

In addition to presenting the accounts for Watford Supporters Limited for the past year, Alice Arnold presented an analysis of the Watford Leisure accounts in order to provide some answers to the questions that have been asked by fans about where the money has gone. The presentation is attached.

I make no apologies for reiterating our Vision, Aims and ongoing objectives as these have been sorely challenged over the last year:

So here we are again. Our 6th Annual General Meeting of the Watford Supporters Trust tonight. An EGM next Monday, to be followed by the clubs AGM a fortnight later on December 15th. Sir Elton withdrawing his support and a new manager in charge of his first game this weekend. We really have got very little to talk about tonight! I’m pleased I am in Germany for the Schalke v Manchester City Uefa cup game!

It was with great sadness that the Board of the Watford Supporters Trust heard today of Aidy Boothroyd’s departure from the manager’s position at Vicarage Road.

Our Rules/Constitution require that a third of the Board retires each year thereafter so that, on an ongoing basis, no director can in future serve three years without seeking re-election, whilst maintaining necessary continuity in the operation of the Board. In order to comply with this rule, Frances Lynn and Mike Thomas will be retiring and applying for re-election at the 2008 AGM.

Watford Supporters Trust is pleased to give notice of its Sixth Annual General Meeting, to be held on Thursday 27th November 2008 at the Metropolitan Police Sports Club, Aldenham Road, Bushey.

It was with great interest that the Board of the Watford Supporters Trust (WST) read Elton John’s statement on the present situation regarding the ownership of Watford FC. Every Watford fan owes a huge debt of gratitude to Elton for all he did for the club in both periods in which he served as Chairman. Without his passion and his vision, it is unlikely that we would ever have experienced top flight football at Vicarage Road, and for that we must be eternally grateful and always respect his opinion.

Board members from the Watford Supporters Trust (WST) met with the Chairman and Chief Executive of Watford Football Club on 30th August in order to obtain answers to a list of questions submitted by WST members. The questions submitted and the answers given by Graham Simpson and Mark Ashton are reproduced below.
